Job description

A fixed term vacancy has arisen in our Department for a Specialist Psychological Therapist to work with children and their families or carers offering specialist psychological therapy and supporting the development of evidence-based therapies within the CAMHS team.  Applications are invited from an enthusiastic and energetic individual who wants to play key roles in offering evidence-based psychological therapies to this population and support the development of psychological therapies in others.  This is an exciting new post funded by Scottish Government  on a fixed term basis to fulfil our obligations to improving Mental Health provision for Children, Young People and their families

As well as working directly with service users, the postholder will also support training and supervision of other health professionals who are using psychological approaches in their work.  

The Department, which now has a complement of around 70 staff, has psychologists and psychological therapists in all major specialties and is a friendly, supportive and lively place of work.  We currently have strong links with Edinburgh and Stirling/Dundee Universities and take trainees from the Edinburgh Doctoral course and from the MSc course in Stirling/Dundee. We also provide placements and supervision for trainee CBT and other psychological therapists.
The post has dedicated CPD and supervision time.

NHS Dumfries & Galloway can support OSCE Training for international nurses from March 2022 for those who have completed CBT and English language.
