Job description

A permanent position has arisen for a Health care support worker / Generic  worker  to join our team here in the Emergency Department of the Galloway Community Hospital, Stranraer in South West Scotland. 

The post is rotational – Nights, days and weekends,  and tends to be10.5 hours shifts (or as required to cover needs).

The department sees on averaged 40+ patients in a 24hour period. 

Experience in Emergency care / acute setting would be beneficial.

We have a supported training process for staff joining the team. Training is continuous from starting in the post.

The ED deals with all age groups serving a local population of approx 30000 within the Wigtownshire area alone, this increases dramatically during holiday periods with holiday makers.

Within the department there is a strong sense of belonging and support.

Located west within Dumfries and Galloway and linked to our larger hospital the Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary based 73 Miles East along the Euroroute A75.  We also have links North on the A77 (Glasgow is approx 2hours car journey).  

We have local ferry terminal based at Cairnryan (5 minute drive from Stranraer),  linking to Ireland (Belfast and Larne).

Area is quite rural with lots of things to do during off time.
