Job description

Radiographers - (Band 5/6 depending on experience) - full time/part time posts available

Salary £26,104 to £32,915 per annum (Band 5) - Link Graded to Band 6

Salary £33,072 to £40,736 per annum (Band 6)

Swap the stresses of urban living for the relaxed Highland way of life in an outstanding area of natural beauty. Fort William, nestling at the foot of Britain’s highest mountain and the ‘outdoor capital of the UK’ offers a superb lifestyle if you enjoy fresh air/outdoor activities.  There are uninhabited wildernesses and small islands, as well as the bigger well-known isles that surround Western Scotland, to explore. It has excellent schools and is within day trip distance of the cosmopolitan cities of Glasgow and Inverness.

We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Radiographer to join our small friendly team in providing a 24/7 Plain film and CT service. If an initial appointment is made at Band 5 level, you will be working and training towards a Band 6 post in Trauma and CT.  The successful candidate may be subject to a relocation allowance.

Belford Hospital is a busy Rural General Hospital in Fort William covering a large geographical area. It has a 24 hour Emergency Department receiving many casualties from mountain trauma. There is a 17 bed CAU, 2 bed HDU and a 15 bed Rehabilitation ward. Broadford Hospital in Broadford, Skye, is an enhanced Community Hospital, which will be moving to a brand new purpose built facility later this year, with a 24 hour Emergency Department and provides a range of acute care, with DR equipment. You may be expected to provide cover for both hospitals.

The X-ray Department is equipped with two general purpose DR x-ray units, a new 128 slice CT scanner and an ultrasound scanner.  There is also CR, RIS and PACS. There is an on-call commitment to provide a 24/7 service at night and weekends.

You should have a BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography, HCPC registration is essential and clinical experience in a range of diagnostic imaging investigations. We support CPD and role development, with Advanced Practice within the Department. You should also be a patient-centered Radiographer with a commitment to training and development.

Fort William is in an area of outstanding natural beauty with a wide range of outdoor activities available, as such this post is a rare opportunity to live and work in a remote, rural environment.
