Specialist Clinical Pharmacist – Renal Medicine in Edinburgh

Job description

We have an exciting career opportunity available for an enthusiastic pharmacist ready to advance their career and develop leadership and clinical skills within the Renal team at Forth Valley Royal Hospital, Larbert.

You will work with the Renal and Pharmacy teams to deliver pharmaceutical care to patients including patients with end stage renal failure, chronic kidney disease and requiring provision of homecare services- for example for tolvaptan.

This is an excellent opportunity to prepare for advanced practice as you will have the opportunity to develop clinical expertise in a defined therapeutic area, leadership skills, and contribute to managing change and improving services.

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic pharmacist to make a difference and contribute to transforming hospital services and improving patient outcomes. You will need to be flexible, organised, work well within a team and have a positive, ‘can do’ attitude.  You need to enjoy working in a busy challenging environment and be a well-rounded practitioner.

The pharmacy service within NHS Forth Valley is highly regarded across the organisation with staff working closely within multi-disciplinary teams.  The clinical pharmacist team is strongly supported by one of the largest and most established clinical pharmacy technician teams in Scotland, who are poised to take their service to the next level.  The department is forward thinking and constantly seeking improvement. We have many opportunities for personal development and you will be supported to undertake training. The Pharmacy Department makes use of modern technologies including robotics.  We have implemented Hospital Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (HEPMA) throughout the health board, keeping us at the forefront of healthcare provision.

We are a friendly, dedicated and supportive team.  Team building activities include our cake club, games evenings, book club and social events. The hospital, which is situated surrounded by woods and lochs, provides many activities to support healthy lives for staff such as running and cycling clubs. Larbert is within 40 minutes of Edinburgh and Glasgow and has excellent road and rail links.
