Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Liaison and Neuropsychiatrist. Become an important part of our team, at the heart of delivering high quality, patient-centred care for the half-million people who live in Grampian. This is a new and innovative Consultant Psychiatrist post spanning Liaison and Neuropsychiatric services. This will include leading the multidisciplinary Mental Health after Covid Hospitalisation team, inpatient and outpatient work with the expanded Liaison Psychiatry Team, responsibilities for the Brain Injury Unit in Royal Cornhill Hospital and the Young Onset Dementia Service. 

Aberdeen is well known for its superb quality of life and enjoys first class amenities, housing and schools. Aberdeenshire includes some of the most spectacular countryside in Europe with Royal Deeside and the Cairngorm Mountain National Park and a wide range of outdoor pursuits within easy reach of the city. There are excellent connections with other British cities and the continent, flying time to London is one hour with more than 20 daily flights - and road and rail links are easily accessible.

It will be based predominantly at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and Royal Cornhill Hospital, Aberdeen. The successful candidate will be joining Psychiatry multidisciplinary teams which include Nursing, Cinical Psychology and Occupational Therapy. The work will include out-patient and in-patient elements.

The post is advertised as Full time – 40 hours / 10 PAs.

Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT in General Adult Psychiatry and/or Older Adult Psychiatry or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from date of interview. 

Alternatively, applicants should possess a CESR / CESR (CP) in in General Adult Psychiatry and/or Older Adult Psychiatry.

Applications from doctors with appropriate specialist training and experience who are not listed on the GMC Specialist Register can be considered for a Locum Consultant post (up to 12 months) if no substantive Consultant appointment is made.  Whilst in locum employment, an application to obtain a CESR / CESR (CP) and entry onto the Specialist Register can be made.

An endorsement in Liaison Psychiatry will be seen as desirable, although not essential.

Applications for those wishing to work at less than the advertised sessions of 10 will also be considered.
