PS104771- Specialty Registrar Locum Appointment for Training (LAT) in Geriatric Medicine (ST4+ level) in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary
Job description
This full-time Specialty Registrar LAT (ST4 level or above) post is available from 3rd August 2022 for 1 year. It is primarily based within Geriatric Medicine based at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary but may include Rosewell House, Woodend Hospital and Community work. There will be a requirement to work in shifts on rotation, including evening, weekend and overnight work.
The Acute Geriatric Service includes a 25 bedded Geriatric Assessment Unit (Ward 102) and 40 sub- acute inpatient beds at Rosewell House Intermediate Care Unit. The service also covers Geriatric Rehabilitation at Woodend Hospital (Links@Woodend) and Geriatric Continuing Care (Morningfield House).
Applicants should have completed a Foundation Scheme or have similar experience. They should ideally hold the MRCP from one of the Royal Colleges in the UK or hold similar qualification and have experience in General Medicine, and ideally some experience in Geriatric Medicine although this is not essential. This post may appeal to trainees in Group 1 (and perhaps a small number of Group 2) Medical Specialties generally. It would allow for training in Geriatric Medicine which constitutes a considerable portion of the Acute Medical take. If trainees have a specific interest in a non-Geriatric Medical Specialty it may be possible to allow trainees a period of time in the specialty of their choice to allow them to optimise their Curriculum Vitae for application for ST4 posts in the future irrespective of Group 1 (or 2) specialty.
The salary scale for this post will be £34,901 - £54,879 per annum and the contracted hours for this post are 40 per week.
