Job Description: Product Management and Engineering Lead (Associate Director) – London (UK&I Markets & BD - Client Tech & Innovation)

We are looking for an experienced, client facing, technical and “hands on oriented” product mindset leader who will lead a team of Product Managers, Engineers and Product Delivery Managers.  They will also partner with global development and business teams to adopt, define and develop cutting edge products across different EY disciplines / domains / sectors.

 

The opportunity

The selected candidate will: 

  • Be responsible for leading a team of Product Delivery Managers, Product Managers and Engineers with ultimate responsibility for the success of key client technology products in the UKI
  • This will include adoption and commercialization of existing products in Region as well as managing the end-to-end product life cycle- from definition, through design, development, testing, integration, deployment and ensure the operational management of medium to large-sized products and/or services within a technical area of expertise, ensuring alignment to the organization's business and product strategy
  • For existing assets our team will triage the solution to understand applicability in Region.  We will form a delivery plan to address any gaps and commercialise the product in Region managing multiple teams involved in product management from technical resources through to GTM/ marketing.
  • Contribute to the development of the product launch and in life vision, strategy and roadmap
  • Ensure ongoing operate model and business management
  • As the business and client’s trusted advisor, incorporate all feedback and requirements into plans and roadmaps
  • Provide regular updates about product direction and release plans to senior stakeholders and clients
  • Develop trusted relationships with senior business, technical, and client stakeholders to ensure business case and customer satisfaction goals are met.
  • Contribute and lead the development of our teams’ processes and related Global process

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the product provides value to the client and delivers a complete customer experience
  • Experienced in core regional product management/product marketing
  • Triage existing products using a defined process, to identify gaps between the existing solution and what we need to commercialise the asset; ensuring all product is legislatively correct for market and we have appropriate go to market collateral in place.
  •  Show expertise regarding product marketing concepts and strategies and be responsible for the utilisation of such concepts within the business.
  • Ensure proper prioritizing per business and client requirements and dependencies for the local region
  •  
  • Ensure technical clarity and sign off from the development teams on product features and roadmap
  • Work with the project manager and business stakeholders to enable the product’s deployment in specific projects
  • Lead the execution of the product vision, strategy roadmap and defined features for a product or set of products within a product family (proven success in previous roles is a must)
  • Initiate and facilitate workshops across the product lifecycle as required
  • Communicate the vision and goals to internal and external stakeholders
  • Drive sales, marketing, product positioning and pricing discussions with the respective business teams through the pragmatic framework approach
  • Validate and challenge the product business case
  • Challenge the development and engineering teams  
  • Work with our Regional and Global BMC teams to drive external market presence
  • Participate in product management activities together with the global product management group
  • Deliver results through others, leveraging the ability to lead through influence
  • Review performance of team
  • Present when needed directly to clients to help service line teams close deals

 

Skills / experience required:

  • Solid business acumen, management and marketing communication skills
  • Experience in leading cross-functional virtual teams
  • Experience in coordinating/ collaborating with multi-geo and multi-cultural teams
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in software product marketing
  • Experience developing and delivering software products, offerings or solution accelerators with significant experience in interacting with senior leaders and global C-level management
  • Proven experience developing products or product component with at least $5m investment budget, or a $3-5m investment budget for innovative leading-edge products with a higher degree of difficulty
  • Client facing experience. Leading workshops and negotiations with C-Level executives
  • Domain proficiency which aligns with business priority for the posting like Search or Industry or Functional area
  • Practical experience in product development and delivery via Agile framework using DevOps or a similar tool
  • Exceptional knowledge of the product and software development cycle and project management methodologies
  • Experience with budgeting and financial reporting for multiple products / services
  • A passion for listening to customers and delivering world-class user experience
  • Experience with close interaction with senior leaders and C-level management
  • Ability to lead UX/UI staff on building state of the art visual designs for end user applications
  • Experience in agile development methodologies

 

Ideally, you will also have:

  • Proven experience in defining and developing cloud-based products and services, including reusable domain-specific microservices on Cloud environments - Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, VMware, or OpenStack
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, economics, mathematics, finance, accounting or related.  Master’s degree is an extra plus
