Our technology teams in the UK work closely with HSBC’s global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world’s leading international bank.

Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.

We work in small, agile DevOps teams with colleagues around the world.

Following extensive investment across our Technology and Digital domains, we are currently seeking an experienced Ansible RedHat SME to join HSBC Technology.

Primary job responsibilities

Design, develop and maintain the next generation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux platform, with a focus on constructing and managing pipelines, provide all services via APIs, increase automation, availability, and performance.  Work with our Agile Teams, Architects, and Customer Success Managers, to identify and implement optimal solutions for the platform and our customers.

 

Experience:  Extensive Experience as Ansible / Red Hat Automation expert

 Required Skills:

  1. Proficient in Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating systems with experience in large, complex estates
  2. Hands-on experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines and code
  3. management in a large organisation using GIT
  4. Highly experienced in automation and orchestration technologies
  5. Advanced understanding of developing and driving Automation based on Ansible, and Ansible Tower
  6. Understanding of Ansible Code Development and Testing frameworks such as the Molecule.
  7. Bash, Ruby, Python, Perl, Java, C+, etc (any two)
  8. Innovative approach to deployment methodologies
  9. Experience of working with agile practices and toolsets including JIRA and Confluence
  10. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
  11. Ability to work with globally distributed teams including 3rd party vendors
  12. Design and manage Jenkins pipeline for code testing and continuous deployment
  13. A proven track record in applying these skills across Enterprise scale estates

  1. An understanding of external cloud technologies
  2. REST API knowledge
  3. Splunk dashboards and integration
  4. RHCS Ansible Tower/Controller Qualification

  1. Experience of working with agile practices and toolsets including JIRA and Confluence
  2. Experience of knowledge transfer and mentoring of staff
  3. Active listening, negotiation, problem solving
  4. Passionate about technology and solving IT operations-focused problems
  5. Experience of working directly with people to improve their performance, develop skills and enhance practices

  4. Promote innovation and adoption of cutting edge specialist technologies and practices with the domain.
  5. Promote development of engineers through coaching, and mentoring.
