Working within WPB IT, the role has overall global delivery responsibility towards WPB Digital Enabler capabilities. The role will contribute towards an overall delivery of multi-million-dollar portfolio of change, with digital customer and colleague experience at the heart of everything delivered. The WPB Digital Enabler Value Stream is responsible for the digital mobile, online experiences, customer security and API ecosystem; using digital messaging to enhance our customer relationships; building and improving the underlying technology and security platforms; and innovating our propositions to compete effectively in a mobile, data-driven world

We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Lead Solution Architect.

Role Description

The Lead Solution Architect Role is within the Channels Transformation Enterprise Architecture Function and provides architectural leadership across a portfolio of Value Stream change. The architect will work collaborative with Product owners, Platform and solution architects across Digital, Channels Value Streams and other Enablers

Responsibilities

  • Play a critical role in collaborating with various Agile teams validating the cross-cutting impacts and technology assumptions, elaborating current and target state architectures, evaluating implementation options and recommendation
  • Supports the development of cross-cutting strategic technology roadmaps that meets short term business development plan and pave way to support medium to long term vision
  • Defining the end to end solution design for products and features in a way that supports the execution of the WPB technology strategy and roadmap, articulating and addressing associated architectural risks, issues and technical debt
  • Supports the management of the architectural runway for channels transformation by ensuring that impacted enabler capabilities and features are defined and prioritized in the appropriate solution train and ART backlogs
  • Supports the architectural governance processes, reviewing the architecture according to Wealth and Personal Banking Governance standards and processes ensuring adherence to Decision Driven Design, Solution Architecture Policy and promoting re-use and reduction of technical debt
  • Lead, drive and own the development and implementation of cross-cutting architecture strategy and standards; guide architecture and design activities across the change portfolios; management of stakeholders; influence investments decisions & planning; manage architecture decisions and technology risks across value streams
Requirements

Skills required

  • Ability to translate business requirements into the high level architectures, across value streams and markets. Understanding the impacts, optionality and ensuring the products and services meet the customer needs and expected business outcomes
  • Experience of developing high level cross-cutting technology roadmaps and support investment planning, with the ability to influence the prioritisation and investment as part of the quarterly and yearly planning and investment cycles
  • Experience in elaborating solution designs at various levels with the ability to understand interdependencies across business lines and breakdown non-functional requirements into application, infrastructure, security, cloud and data designs
  • Ability to collaborate with the business, technology teams and engineers to ensure solutions adhere to principles and strategic direction
  • Strong experience in digital technologies (e.g. Mobile, Browser, Customer Security, Channels Analytics, Assisted Digital platforms) and broader architecture transformation, applying solutions from experience in decomposing monolithic solutions, product centered thinking and methods to manage technical debt.
     
  • Accountability for significant architectural decisions and provide justification for decisions taken
  • Excellent leadership, engagement and communications skills, with demonstrable experience in setting stretching objectives; building effective networks both internally and externally; manage ambiguity across the group, delivering clear decisions and direction
  • Good understanding of the Retail Banking Business Functional Domains, Operations and Frontline activities
  • Experienced large scale Agile & DevOps practitioner
  • Knowledge of: -
    • Integration concepts, techniques and patterns.
    • Security concepts and design
    • Data Architecture concepts, techniques
    • APIs, Messaging infrastructure and standards
    • Cloud Infrastructure Design and concepts

The role is based in London, but some travel may be required.
