Working within WPB IT, the role has overall global delivery responsibility towards WPB Digital Enabler capabilities. The role will contribute towards an overall delivery of multi-million-dollar portfolio of change, with digital customer and colleague experience at the heart of everything delivered. The WPB Digital Enabler Value Stream is responsible for the digital mobile, online experiences, customer security and API ecosystem; using digital messaging to enhance our customer relationships; building and improving the underlying technology and security platforms; and innovating our propositions to compete effectively in a mobile, data-driven world

We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Enterprise Architect.

Role Description

The Enterprise Architect (EA) Role is within the Channels Transformation Enterprise Architecture Function and provides architectural leadership across a portfolio of Value Stream change. The EA will work collaborative with Business Leads, Product owners, Platform architects and other solution architects across Digital Enablers and Value Streams.

Responsibilities

  • Elaborating enterprise wide digital architecture, clearly articulating the business vision, drivers and minimal viable product; Shaping, detailing and leading the overall architecture impact assessment; identifying and managing key critical dependencies across the values streams; defining and maintaining the cross-cutting digital channels architecture and supporting roadmaps that inform architectural runway activities
  • Managing the architectural runway for channels transformation by ensuring that impacted enablers capabilities and features are defined and prioritized in the appropriate solution train and ART backlogs
  • Leading and owning the development and implementation of cross-cutting architecture blueprints (e.g. strategy, principles, standards, patterns & roadmaps)
     
  • Influencing strategic investment decisions and technology outcomes as part of quarterly and yearly investment planning cycles
     
  • Present and communicate complex architectural issues clearly and concisely with technical and non-technical audiences from senior stakeholders to agile teams
     
  • Prepare and present architectural design and proposals to the appropriate review forums
Requirements

Skills required

  • A seasoned architectural leader with the ability to guide architecture and design activities across change portfolios
  • Ability to translate business requirements into the high level architectures, across value streams and markets. Understanding the impacts, optionality and ensuring the products and services meet the customer needs and expected business outcomes
  • Experience in digital technologies (e.g. mobile, security and browser platforms) and broader architectural transformation, applying solutions from experience in decomposing monolithic solutions and methods to manage technical debt
  • An excellent aptitude to develop high level cross-cutting technology roadmaps and investment plans to influence the prioritisation and investment as part of the quarterly and planning and investment cycles
  • Understand solution trade-offs such as cost, scope, timescale and balance between long term strategic and short term pragmatic considerations
  • An excellent communicator with the ability to interact and influence at executive level
  • Exceptional stakeholder management - deliver a highly effective cross-functional leadership across diverse populations, regions and markets globally
  • Excellent Leadership and Teamwork - educate, inspire, motivate and mentor teams
  • Accustomed to managing a high level of ambiguity across geographies, markets, products and services and delivering clear decisions and direction
  • An excellent understanding of the retail banking value streams and business processes
  • Ability to understand, articulate and translate customer journeys into technical design, leveraging API and micro-service architecture techniques and applying the platform solutions required to enable
  • Participate in technical design and oversee all technology implementation (including native cloud product development), promoting reuse and managing down technical debt across the enterprise
  • Experienced large scale Agile & DevOps practitioner

The role is based in London, but some travel may be required.
