Our technology teams in the UK work closely with HSBC’s global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world’s leading international bank.

Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.

 

Role Description:

Finance on the Cloud is a multi year programme which will rationalise operational processes, automate data and report production, to deliver comprehensive data to our internal and external stakeholders for analysis and reporting. 
The programme, which started in 2020, involves the migration of core Finance data and processes to the cloud.

Due to the nature of the programme the cloud based solutions being delivered need to be highly scalable, reliable, resilient and innovative, involving the highest standards of technical engineering combined with a quick time to market.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Finance On the Cloud Common Component IT Team, working as .

The Common Components platform is designed around the use of re-usable cloud-based components, which underpin the Finance on the Cloud architecture.

Responsibilities:

  • Work within the Functional Frameworks Agile delivery POD, designing and engineering software with the customer/user experience as a key objective.
  • Design and engineer new features, or amendments to existing features across the Functional Framework suite of products on Google Cloud Platform.
  • Use a combination of JSON constructed files, along with Big Query SQL executions.
  • Perform first level triage of bugs and issues raised against the Functional Framework suite of products on both Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure.
  • Use Google Cloud Platform, and products such as BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Cloud Logging and Pub/Sub.
  • Implement technical designs into application code (owning a user story from conception to delivery and packaging).
  • Design, develop and deploy applications capable of meeting the anticipated load, performance, availability, security, and resilience requirements.
  • Ensure appropriate communication and release documentation is issued to our customers and stakeholders on new product deliveries.
  • Design and develop software with a focus on automation of build, testing and deployment process on all environments to minimize variation and ensure predictable high quality code and data.
  • Able to manage their own time and workload.
  • Effectively work with diverse and widely distributed teams.
  • Be able to advise others on technology solution and explain designs to technical and non-technical audiences.
Requirements

Essential Skillset/Experience:

 

  • Have a passion for technology – this represents a great opportunity to broaden experience and gain new skills, it really helps if the candidate has a genuine interest for the technology.
  • Have experience in development of SQL.
  • Have experience in development of python.
  • Experience of cloud technologies is desirable but not essential.
  • Both spoken and written communication skills with experience of adapting your style and approach to the audience and message to be delivered.
  • Experience of working within an Agile delivery POD.
  • Experience of JIRA desirable but not essential.
  • Experience of working through a product backlog.

 

Qualification and Experience

 

  • GCP Engineering or Architecture Certification preferred is desirable but not essential.
  • Recognised Experience in an Object-Oriented development language is desirable but not essential.

 

The role can be based in London or Sheffield but some travel may be required. This role supports Hybrid working
