Our technology teams in the UK work closely with HSBC’s global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world’s leading international bank.

Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.

We work in small, agile DevOps teams with colleagues around the world.

Following extensive investment across our Technology and Digital domains, we are currently seek an experienced Global ISO20022 Payments Project Managerto join HSBC Technology.

The G-ISO project manager will lead a work stream within the Global ISO20022 programme, focussing on the engagement, co-ordination and oversight of various IT asset and deliverables required to support ISO20022 across regions/countries, applications and LoB (Lines of Business).

Responsibilities:

The G-ISO project manager will be assigned to deliver a change initiative and will need to understand the wider objectives of their project, demonstrate credibility in that field and be able to influence others. They must be able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with senior managers, the programme office, the wider project and portfolio teams, and third parties.

The G-ISO project manager has the authority and is responsible for the delivery of the project on a day-to-day basis including:

  • Provide technical guidance and leadership to the ISO 200022 programme.
  • Identify constraints and dependency management issues across the programme and provide mitigating action.
  • Monitor IT Programme budgets and actuals
  • From a delivery viewpoint, anticipates and identifies existing or emerging risks/issues.
  • Support project and IT teams to ensure optimal utilization and prioritization of the task.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the roadmap of ISO20022 activities, identifying, resolving and where necessary escalating conflicts, as well as managing relevant dependencies (other programmes/interlocks) 
  • Working with the Global Test Lead, ensure common minimum testing standards are implemented globally
  • Engage with third party service providers or vendors associated with the project. Closely manage their delivery against well-defined cost, time and quality parameters.
  • Conduct post project reviews and close down activities.
  • Work with regional/country PM’s to ensure general project documentation is maintained i.e. plans PPR, risk, issues, action logs.
  • Responsible for ensuring global programme plan in place and key milestones are identified
  • Coordinate with other delivery teams to ensure work assigned to them is completed in accordance with the project's requirements
  • Detailed planning incorporating all external dependencies
  • Proactively monitoring overall progress, resolving issues and initiating corrective action as appropriate
  • Manage all aspects of RAID (risks, issues, dependencies and assumptions) including the development of contingency plans
  • Manage the project's reporting obligations within the delivery governance framework
  • Engage with third party service providers or vendors associated with the project. Closely manage their delivery against well-defined cost, time and quality parameters.
  • Conduct post project reviews and close down activities.
  • Work with regional/country PM’s to ensure general project documentation is maintained i.e. plans PPR, risk, issues, action logs.
  • Responsible for ensuring adequate relevant data is available to ensure global programme plan and key milestones are identified
Requirements

The Successful Applicant

  • A track record of successful project delivery throughout the entire project lifecycle
  • A good knowledge of ISO 20022 standards preferred
  • Payments experience is essential such as swift, chaps, international or domestic payments
  • Experience of projects spanning multiple jurisdictions and business areas within an organisation
  • Must have experience of delivering projects within the Financial Services sector
  • Need to have extensive experience of delivering IT technical projects along with Business change management experience gained from successfully managing the organisational, cultural and stakeholder challenges of a transformation project.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to negotiate, persuade and influence business decisions at senior management level and presents at Investment Board level
  • Strong organisation skills, with the ability to manage conflicting deadlines and priorities,
  • Able to use judgement and provide sound justification for decisions, tailoring approach to delivery based on experience
  • Able to work collaboratively across an organisation, building a network of contacts both internally and externally
  • Clear communication skills (verbal and written); able to represent the project at governance forums or Boards
  • Strong leadership, people management and team building capabilities, with experience of line or matrix management of teams
  • Experience in all aspects of project management including project planning, estimating, budgetary control and RAID management (Risks, Assumptions, Issues and Dependencies)
  • Understanding of how Waterfall and Agile methodologies can effectively work together on a programme

The role can be based from any UK location and working from home will be available however occasional travel will be required to our offices in either London, Sheffield, Birmingham
