The Valuations and Analytics Group in Product Control is a global team responsible for all aspects of the calculation of fair value for traded instruments in Global Markets and additionally undertakes oversight and support for fair value calculations across the rest of HSBC Group (predominantly Global Banking and Corporate Centre). The Valuations and Analytics Group is part of Global Product Control and is split into 4 main areas of (1) Quantitative Analytics including Models (2) Fair Value Methodology (3) Production, and (4) Reporting, Governance & Analysis. 

We are currently seeking an expert individual to join this team in the role of Valuation Controller - Non Markets, Valuations & Analytics.

In this role, you will:

  • You will sit within the Product Control Structure and will perform Fair Value calculations for Non-Markets & Securities Services (MSS) businesses, including Strategic Innovative Investments (SII), Principal investments (PI), Syndication and other Non-MSS businesses;
  • You will assist management in conversations on valuations with the stakeholders who are responsible for their respective businesses;
  • Chairing Valuation Committee meetings attended by the Front Office and Traded and Market Risk;
  • Researching and updating the financial information of listed comparative firms for investments within the Strategic Innovation Investments and Markets & Securities Services Investments on a quarterly basis;
  • Estimates of company valuations using standard techniques;
  • Calculation of Prudent Valuation Adjustments on a quarterly basis;
  • Fair Value Levelling of positions on a quarterly basis;
  • Project work including automation and streamlining processes;
  • Ad hoc analysis for management or the business, in particular research around new investments.
Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements: 

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent);
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills;
  • Good knowledge of vanilla financial products;
  • Valuation control experience;
  • Experience of building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders.

The base location for this role is London and with a hybrid working pattern.
