The HSBC Global Legal function plays an important role in protecting the Group’s reputation by helping to future-proof the organisation through robust legal risk and issue advisory. The team offers a diverse range of legal skills, jurisdictional experience and practice specialisms across all countries and territories in which our businesses operate.

We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Legal Counsel – Global Private Banking and Wealth – Products

In this role, you will:

  • Support and assist with the work of the GPB&W IWS global team which includes drafting and negotiating product documentation including constitutive documents, subscription documents and distribution agreements, assistance with new product and service launches
  • Support and have creative input into the training sessions and documents which support the global WPB legal team’s upskilling in the ESG area as well as the business’s ongoing compliance with ESG regulation as it evolves
  • Support and assist on the wider work of the GPB&W global team including for example assistance with projects to launch a number of initiatives to streamline legal entities, terms and conditions, service offerings and other major projects 

This role would suit someone who is looking to expand their knowledge of the private bank and wealth area of the bank very generally, and will be willing to tackle many areas with enthusiasm and a view to taking on an independent portfolio of work supporting business stakeholders

Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Qualified Lawyer, preferably with financial product knowledge
  • Willingness to learn is more important than any specific skillset, although some knowledge of markets products, alternatives, credit and lending or implementation of global projects would be advantageous
  • Ability to prioritise;
  • Communication and inter-personal skills;
  • Lateral thinking/problem solving. 

The base location for this role is London with hybrid working involving circa 50% office time
