EU Regulatory Ecotoxicologist in Leeds

NonStop Consulting is looking for an EU Regulatory Ecotoxicologist in Leeds

Job description

Regulatory Ecotoxicologist – EU-Focused

Crop Protection | Regulatory Affairs | Active Substance & Product Registration

A global crop protection leader is seeking a technically strong Regulatory Ecotoxicologist to join its Regulatory Affairs team in Leeds. This is a high-impact position for an experienced scientist who wants to influence the registration of active substances and formulated products across the EU, with additional exposure to LATAM markets (~20%).

The Role

You’ll be a key contributor to the preparation, submission, and defence of regulatory dossiers for agrochemical products and active substances. Working closely with international regulatory and R&D teams, your primary focus will be EU submissions, with limited but strategic support for Latin American regulatory activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, compile, and submit ecotoxicological sections of regulatory dossiers in compliance with Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009, REACH, CLP, and related guidance.
  • Perform and document risk assessments for non-target organisms, including aquatic life, birds, bees, and soil organisms using EFSA and OECD methodologies.
  • Evaluate and interpret GLP-compliant ecotox studies; contribute to study planning, monitoring, and contracting with CROs.
  • Use regulatory tools such as FOCUS, EFSA PRIMo, and IUCLID for exposure modeling and data submission.
  • Support and/or lead active substance renewal and defense dossiers; prepare waivers, data gap justifications, and scientific argumentation.
  • Provide scientific input for product registrations where active substance data is not required.
  • Interface with regulatory authorities in the EU; contribute to regulatory strategy development and participate in response preparation to authority questions.
  • Assist LATAM regulatory teams with data interpretation, dossier compilation, and strategic planning (~20% of workload).

Profile We’re Looking For

  • MSc or PhD in Ecotoxicology, Environmental Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Chemistry, or similar.
  • Minimum 3+ years' experience in regulatory ecotoxicology within the agrochemical industry, consultancy, or regulatory authority.
  • Solid experience with EU regulatory frameworks for active substances and/or plant protection products.
  • Proficient in risk assessment methodologies, dossier preparation, and ecotoxicological study interpretation.
  • Familiarity with regulatory tools (e.g., FOCUS models, PRIMo, EU IUCLID, OECD/EU test guidelines).
  • Active substance registration experience strongly preferred; product-only experience will also be considered.
  • Experience working with or supporting LATAM registrations is a plus.
  • Fluent in English; additional language skills (German, Spanish, Portuguese) are advantageous but not essential.
