About the Company

Heriot Brown is working with the largest privately owned insurance brokerage. This is a senior leadership position within the Legal, Risk, Compliance & Secretariat (LRCS) function reporting directly to the General Counsel.

About the Role

As Head of the Commercial Legal Team, you will lead a group of experienced lawyers and act as the escalation point for a wide variety of complex legal matters. These include insurance agreements, commercial contracts, technology and vendor arrangements, data privacy, intellectual property, employment, and procurement.

You will play a critical role in shaping legal strategy, improving efficiency, and enabling the business to operate with confidence and agility. The role offers significant exposure to senior stakeholders across the UK and international business.

Who You Are

You’re a senior commercial lawyer with a strong track record in the insurance sector, ideally with in-house experience and a good understanding of the Lloyd’s/London Market.

You have:

• Extensive experience advising on commercial contracts and insurance-related agreements
• Strong leadership capabilities and team management experience
• A collaborative and commercially minded approach to legal support
• Confidence advising senior stakeholders and influencing at all levels
• Experience with data privacy, IP, or employment matters (desirable)
