Job description

We're hiring on behalf of a leading residential operator for a hands-on and highly organised Maintenance Operative to join the team on a fixed-term contract (potential to go permanent if successful). This is a varied, practical role ideal for someone who takes pride in high standards, enjoys a mix of maintenance and coordination tasks, and wants to grow within property or facilities management.


This position blends day-to-day repair work, compliance checks, and contractor coordination, alongside a strong focus on customer care. You'll be a visible and valued member of the on-site team, ensuring residents and guests receive professional, friendly service and a safe, well-maintained living environment.


What You’ll Be Doing:

Maintenance & Repairs

  • Complete basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry jobs (e.g. Leaks, lights, doors)
  • Carry out general repairs in apartments and communal areas, plus seasonal outdoor upkeep
  • Support renovation projects and maintain HVAC systems (filter changes, checks)
  • Supervise contractors on-site to ensure safe, compliant work
  • Daily & Weekly Site Duties

    • Check plant room equipment, fire exits, emergency lighting, and security doors
    • Lock and secure risers, storage rooms and cleaning cupboards
    • Tidy bin stores, maintain perimeter cleanliness and clear litter from outside spaces
    • Perform weekly checks and monthly temperature readings (calorifier)
    • Report faults and complete tasks as directed by the Assistant Manager
  • Facilities Coordination & Compliance

    • Schedule appointments for residents and contractors; manage email communications
    • Update task lists, inspection logs and digital systems
    • Carry out routine inspections and upload compliance data
    • Ensure health & safety standards are maintained across all checks and visits
  • Team & Service

    • Represent the site with professionalism and courtesy at all times
    • Collaborate closely with other departments and assist where needed
    • Support company KPIs and contribute to a positive, high-performance culture
    • Be proactive with training, health & safety, and continuous learning
  • What We’re Looking For

    Essential

    • Previous experience in maintenance or facilities coordination
    • Organised, reliable, with strong communication and multitasking skills
    • A professional, approachable attitude with good timekeeping
    • Eligible to work in the UK; fluent in written and spoken English
    • Familiarity with residential property or facilities settings
    • Sound understanding of basic electrics, plumbing, and building systems
    • Comfortable managing compliance systems and digital tools
  • Desirable

    • NVQ or equivalent in a relevant trade (plumbing, electrical, general building)
    • Experience managing preventative maintenance schedules
    • First aid, fire safety, or health & safety training (or willing to train)
  • Location: London

    Contract: Fixed-term (initial FTC with potential to extend to permanent position)

    Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (some flexibility may be needed)
