Senior Building Surveyor

Location: Ipswich

Contract Type: Full-time

Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 per annum + Excellent Benefits


Are you a skilled Building Surveyor ready to take the next step in your career? Our client is looking for a confident and experienced Senior Building Surveyor to join their dynamic team. You’ll lead projects, mentor future talent, and help shape the built environment across a diverse range of sectors.


The Role

As a Senior Building Surveyor, you’ll be responsible for delivering a wide range of surveying services and small construction projects (typically under £1 million). You’ll also play a key role in mentoring graduates and supporting the development of your team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct building surveys, condition surveys, and dilapidation reports
  • Deliver and manage small construction projects (sub £1m)
  • Prepare specifications, schedules of work, and tender documentation
  • Carry out contract administration and project management duties
  • Use CAD design systems to support design and reporting
  • Provide expert advice on construction, maintenance, and repair
  • Ensure compliance with legal, environmental, and health & safety regulations
  • Support and mentor graduates and junior team members
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships

About You

  • MRICS chartered or working towards chartership
  • Strong experience in building surveying, ideally in commercial or educational sectors
  • Skilled in condition and dilapidation surveys, specification writing, and contract administration
  • Proficient in CAD design systems
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Committed to supporting team development and mentoring
  • Full UK driving licence
