Lead Data Scientist | GenAI & Speech-to-Text Specialist

Remote (UK-based) | Up to £115,000 + benefits | Consultancy | End-August start preferred

We’re working with a global data consultancy on an exclusive basis to hire a Lead Data Scientist focused on Generative AI, LLMs, and speech-to-text technologies. This is a high-impact, client-facing role within a growing AI division that supports enterprise clients across finance, tech, energy, and more.

With flexibility on location, strong delivery culture, and the backing of a 1,000+ person consultancy, this is an opportunity to shape cutting-edge GenAI solutions and lead projects from strategy through to deployment.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Designing, developing, and deploying LLM-driven solutions across speech-to-text, anonymisation, and KPI extraction
• Leading projects and small teams (3–5 people) across full lifecycle AI/ML delivery
• Owning client relationships and presenting analytical findings to senior stakeholders
• Leading model selection, prompt engineering, and fine-tuning of GenAI applications
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to productionise solutions
• Contributing to business development and proposal writing when needed

What They’re Looking For

• Proven track record leading end-to-end ML/AI projects, ideally with client exposure
• Deep expertise in GenAI and LLMs (e.g. HuggingFace, fine-tuning, evaluation frameworks)
• Speech-to-text experience is essential
• Strong Python coding and ability to guide or review high-quality, scalable code
• Confident communicator who can simplify complexity and drive stakeholder engagement
• Comfortable working across ambiguous problem spaces and adapting solutions to client needs

Nice to Have

• Experience working with large datasets or cloud platforms (e.g. Azure, GCP)
• Background in consulting, though not required
• Familiarity with MLOps lifecycle and deployment practices
• Sector experience in FS, energy, public sector, or health/life sciences

You’ll report to the VP of Data Science, with the freedom to shape delivery approaches and influence how clients embed AI at scale. This is a role for someone who thrives in variety, values real-world outcomes, and is ready to lead from the front on GenAI innovation.
