Estimator in Gloucestershire

Job description

We are working with a residential developer in Gloucestershire to appoint an Estimator.

Job Purpose

Lead the production and management of accurate cost plans and estimates, supporting land acquisition, scheme evaluation, and commercial decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver the estimating function in line with agreed standards, ensuring quality and efficiency.
• Assess financial risks relating to land development, including access, levels, drainage, and services.
• Carry out take-offs for groundworks, roads, sewers, earthworks, and externals.
• Prepare and update detailed cost plans, plot schedules, and scheme databases to support land bids and gateway submissions.
• Collaborate with Land, Pre-Construction, Technical, and Commercial teams to ensure accurate and timely cost information.
• Manage subcontractor procurement, tender packages, and scheme financial performance.
• Maintain industry knowledge, share best practice, and promote continuous improvement in estimating processes.

Experience & Qualifications

• Estimating experience within a housebuilding or construction environment.
• Skilled in take-offs for groundworks and infrastructure.
• Knowledge of procurement, cost planning, and contract pricing.
• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management (or equivalent experience).

Skills & Knowledge

• Strong understanding of residential development and construction techniques.
• Proficient in estimating software with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-focused, commercially aware, and able to communicate financial data clearly.
• Strong planning, prioritisation, and relationship management skills.
• Able to work independently and collaboratively.

Other Requirements

• Full UK driving licence and ability to travel.
• Basic DBS check.
