Scientist – Series B BioTech Scaleup

£22M+ Raised | London / Remote

Salary: £80,000 – £110,000 + early equity options

The Role

As a Scientist within the R&D team, you’ll take a hands-on role in designing, optimising, and validating experimental systems and assays that fuel their discovery pipeline.

Working closely with biologists, bioinformaticians, and engineers, you’ll drive innovation at the interface of wet-lab science and computational biology, helping turn discovery into translation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute experiments across molecular biology, biochemistry, and/or cell-based systems.
  • Develop, optimise, and scale assays for discovery and translational applications.
  • Analyse, interpret, and present experimental data to project leads and internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with computational teams to integrate biological and data-driven insights.
  • Evaluate and implement emerging tools and technologies.
  • Contribute to publications, patents, and conference presentations.


About You

Education

  • PhD (or MSc with equivalent experience) in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related discipline.


Experience

  • Proven track record in assay development, experimental design, and method validation.
  • Hands-on expertise in one or more of: NGS, proteomics, CRISPR, molecular cloning, cell culture, or high-throughput screening.
  • Strong analytical mindset with an emphasis on experimental rigour.
  • Previous industry or biotech startup experience preferred.
