Research Scientist | Series A BioTech Startup | £16M+ Raised
Salary: £60,000 – £85,000
Location: London / Hybrid

As a Research Scientist, you’ll join a small, mission-driven team working at the intersection of biology, technology, and data. You’ll take a hands-on role in the lab, designing and executing experiments that drive discovery and shape the company’s R&D pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, execute, and analyse experiments supporting the company’s core discovery programs.
- Develop, optimise, and validate assays, workflows, and protocols to advance R&D.
- Maintain accurate and organised documentation (ELNs, reports, and presentations).
- Present experimental findings to the leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Collaborate with computational scientists, engineers, and biologists to translate data into insight.
- Stay current on emerging methods and technologies that can accelerate innovation.
- Contribute to building scientific culture, infrastructure, and lab best practices in a growing startup.
About You
Education & Experience
- PhD (or MSc with strong hands-on experience) in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or Life Sciences.
- Postdoctoral or early-stage industry experience preferred — but scientific curiosity, creativity, and rigour matter most.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in molecular and/or cellular biology techniques.
- Previous experience in a biotech or startup research environment advantageous.
Soft Skills
- Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.
- Excellent communicator and problem-solver with a rigorous scientific mindset.
- Adaptable team player who enjoys contributing across multiple disciplines.
