Head of Commercial Law

We’re recruiting on behalf of a respected local authority-owned legal practice for an experienced lawyer to lead their Commercial team. This is a senior position that combines leadership, client relationship management, and strategic direction.

The Commercial team currently includes Principal and Senior Lawyers, Paralegals, and Trainees, with plans to expand further. You won’t hold your own caseload, allowing you to focus on people, performance, and developing strong, lasting relationships with clients across the public sector.

You’ll be part of the senior leadership team, helping shape the future of a growing and collaborative legal service that’s committed to providing high-quality, pragmatic advice across contracts, procurement, and commercial matters.

What you’ll bring

• Substantial experience in commercial, contracts, or procurement law
• A background in managing and motivating professional legal teams
• A strategic mindset with a hands-on approach to client service
• Strong understanding of local government law and public sector governance
