Head of Construction – Renewables / Battery Storage

UK | Hybrid | Senior Leadership

We’re representing a fast growing renewable energy platform that’s rapidly building out a national portfolio of grid scale BESS and solar projects. With a strong pipeline moving from development into delivery, they’re now looking to appoint a Head of Construction to lead the build out of their delivery function and ensure projects are executed to the highest standard.

This is a strategic leadership role with significant influence over how the organisation delivers, shaping delivery models, building the team, and ensuring the business can scale confidently in a fast-moving market.

Key Responsibilities:

• Define and implement a national construction strategy covering utility scale BESS and solar assets.
• Lead all aspects of construction delivery, from contractor mobilisation through to energisation and handover.
• Oversee multiple EPC contractors and site programmes across the UK, ensuring alignment on schedule, quality, and safety.
• Build and develop a high performing construction team, including site management, engineering, and QA/QC capability.
• Introduce best practice systems, governance, and reporting to support scalable growth.
• Act as a critical interface between development, grid, commercial, and operations teams to ensure seamless project handover.
• Provide senior leadership input on procurement strategy, risk mitigation, and strategic planning.

What We’re Looking For:

• Proven track record delivering utility scale renewable energy projects (BESS, solar, HV grid infrastructure, or similar).
• Strong leadership experience managing multi site programmes and EPC partners.
• Deep understanding of UK construction delivery, H&S regulations, CDM, and quality management.
• Ability to scale teams, implement structure, and drive cultural and operational excellence.
• This could suit an experienced Construction Director, or a Senior PM/Delivery Lead ready to step into a true leadership role.
