Head of Employee Relations

Where you need to be Located: Midlands – with regular travel to our offices (HO in Northampton and London)

Type: Hybrid | Permanent | Full-Time (37.5 hours)

Salary: £DOE plus car allowance

Reports to: HR Operations Director

What You Will Do:

  • Lead Strategy: Design and implement a progressive ER strategy aligned with organisational goals.
  • Expert Advisory: Provide guidance on complex ER cases, including grievances, disciplinaries, supporting tribunal cases and disputes.
  • Policy Innovation: Develop and maintain forward-thinking HR policies and processes.
  • Change Leadership: Support organisational change initiatives, including restructures and acquisitions.
  • Data Driven Insights: Analyse ER trends and deliver actionable insights to inform decision-making.
  • Team Development: Lead and inspire a high-performing ER team.


What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience in transforming ER functions and managing complex cases.
  • Deep knowledge of UK employment law and compliance.
  • Strong leadership, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
  • CIPD Level 7 and relevant education
  • Experience in regulated sectors (childcare or similar) is highly desirable.
