Job description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Strategic Buyer to join our Procurement Team based at our site in Kingswinford, West Midlands.
You would be responsible for the source to contract direct material procurement for the UK; this includes metal parts, pressed, machined, alu extrusions, injection mouldings and electronics. You would be part of a global group purchasing team with global suppliers so there will be some international travel.
You will need to be experienced in drafting and negotiating supplier agreements and will also be able to read and challenge technical drawings.
Key Responsibilities;
- Involvement in all projects: research/product development, product lifecycle including engineering changes.
- Ensuring early involvement of suppliers in projects. Comparing costs to objectives, ensuring quality and on time delivery
- Sending RFQ’s to AVL and ensuring offers are compared to should cost analysis
- Sourcing new suppliers whenever necessary
- Negotiating contracts with suppliers to ensure global objectives are met
- Monitoring Purchase Price Variance for site and report on monthly
- Creating and monitoring supplier commercial KPI’s
- Monthly project and cost down activities reporting
- Keeping up to date on any changes that may affect supply and demand of products and materials, keeping colleagues informed
- Conducting benchmarking to determine best practices and future trends
Essential Skills and Experience;
- Previous experience of working in Engineering/Manufacturing and the medical device industry
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in strategic purchasing
- Ability to manage across a matrix structure, delivering results through multiple departments and teams
- Excellent organisation and follow-up skills and experience
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to deliver impactful and relevant presentations
- Good commercial awareness, with the ability to translate technical information to a broad audience
- A proven decision maker, with good judgement and the ability to make quick decisions
Desirable;
- Lean manufacturing knowledge
- Experience working in a regulated environment (CFR21, ISO13485)
- A relevant engineering/manufacturing related degree level qualification
- Membership of CIPS
