Job description

Advanced Nurse Practitioner Vacancy

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our dynamic, forward thinking GP practice.

We seek an enthusiastic, full time advanced nurse practitioner to join our motivated, friendly team which is based in newly extended and refurbished premises.

Eyemouth is a harbour town on the East coast of Scotland just North of Berwick-upon-Tweed which is approximately a 1 hour drive from Edinburgh to the North and Newcastle upon Tyne to the South.

The post holder will be an experienced nurse, who has the necessary training and skills to act autonomously within their professional boundaries. They will be responsible for providing care for the presenting patient including the initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of their care. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary practice team to meet the needs of the patient whilst supporting the delivery of relevant policies and procedures. The ANP will deliver a high standard of patient care using an in depth knowledge base with the ability to demonstrate autonomous clinical decision making and expert, holistic care for patients. A prescribing qualification is strongly preferred.

Our two current advanced nurse practitioners see, diagnose and treat patients presenting with illness. They advise patients in respect of their continuing medical and nursing needs. A hybrid consultation model is in use with face to face, telephone and occasional video consultations. The ANPs act as a first point of contact with the practice for patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems that require physical examination, problem solving and clinical decision making to establish a diagnosis and management plan.

The post is for up to 37.5 hours a week over 4 or 5 days (Monday to Friday) with flexible working patterns considered. A comprehensive induction programme will be provided. GP mentorship is available at all times and there will be peer support from our current ANPs as well as other members of the clinical team. Dedicated monthly ANP tutorials with a GP partner are provided. The practice is a GP training practice with a culture of supporting staff development.

Informal conversations with our current ANPs and / or a GP partner can be arranged for interested candidates by emailing our Practice Managers.
