Adult Speech and Language Therapist - Caithness, Highland
Band 6 - £33,072 to £40,736 per annum or Band 5 Development
Full Time Post – 37.5 hours per week - Permanent
This post would be suitable for Speech and Language Therapy students due to graduate in the summer of 2022. Full support will be provided and peer support from other new Band 5s.
An opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified Speech and Language Therapist wishing to further develop a career in the field of Adult Acquired Disorders of Communication and Swallowing.
You will join a friendly team of 14 Speech and Language Therapists serving NHS North Highland, covering the full range of Adult Acquired specialisms. Clinical sessions will be divided between hospital and community care, providing support to people transferring to their own homes including residential Care Homes.
This post will be based in various locations across Caithness providing cover to Caithness General Hospital in Wick, and Dunbar Hospital in Thurso as well as all Care Homes and domiciliary settings in the Caithness area. There will be an expectation provide group and individual working via Telehealth.
Support will be provided by a Band 7 SLT in Sutherland and SLT staff in Inverness and managed by SLT Service Manager based in Raigmore Hospital. Local support will also be available from the Paediatric SLT Team and the local Integrated Team.
The SLT Team has a strong commitment to CPD, supervision and service improvement
Raigmore Hospital is a busy general hospital providing a comprehensive service to the people of the Highlands. The SLT department hosts tertiary clinics and provides an area wide advisory service for other Speech and Language Therapists in NHS Highland.
Clinical experience appropriate to the specialism is essential, ideally with post basic training in dysphagia
A BSc, or equivalent, in Speech Pathology and Therapeutics, is essential, along with registration with the Health and Care Professions Council. Registration with RCSLT is preferred . Car driver essential.
Caithness is a beautiful part of Scotland with lots of outdoor opportunities and stunning scenery and is part of the now famous North Coast 500.
