Medical Secretary - Pathology Department in Glasgow
Job description
This is a full-time permanent post.
To type Pathology reports (hand written and also using audio typing) using a high degree of speed and accuracy.
To type clinical and general correspondence for medical staff.
Manage patient files for Consultants and associated clinical staff, ensuring information is accurate and up-to-date and appropriate follow up systems are in place.
Manage mail for Consultants and associated clinical staff responding where appropriate and directing/ prioritizing to assist in the efficiency of the service delivery.
Manage Consultant(s)/associated clinical staff diaries to ensure effective time management.
To deal with telephone enquiries for consultant and/or associated clinical staff, relaying the required information. This may involve providing information on patient diagnosis to service users.
HNC in Secretarial Studies/Business administration or equivalent demonstrable experience.
Sound knowledge of administrative systems, preferably within a Laboratory environment
High level of competence in office administration, excellent telephone and communication skills, personal organisation and time management skills essential.
Advanced keyboard skills
Audio typing experience
Competence in the use of Microsoft Office suite
Medical terminology
