In addition to the clinical component you will be assigned to an area of developmental interest in collaboration with the University of Aberdeen: such as Medical Education and Simulation training, Quality Improvement, Research and Development, or Leadership and Management. These activities will be supported through a mentorship programme and all successful applicants will have the opportunity to complete a teaching qualification in a chosen area of mutual benefit to the individual and NHS Grampian.

Successful candidates will be contracted for 40 hours per week – 28 hours per week on average undertaking clinical activities; 12 hours per week on average will be protected for developmental activities and there will be an out-of-hours commitment. The post holder will be paid at ST level based on their previous experience.  A banding supplement relevant to the OOH component of their rotas will also be received.

The post is of high educational value and supported by the University of Aberdeen Medical School. However, it is not recognised for training by the Postgraduate Dean.

The following incentives may be offered:

  • Neonatal life support training
  • Opportunity to attend local training programmes
  • Specialist interests such as pre-hospital & transfer medicine
