PAEDIATRIC SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPY SERVICE

East Edinburgh

SLT Assistant

Band 3

Part time – 15 hours

We are seeking a reliable, flexible and organised person to join the team of SLTs working in the community clinics, nurseries and schools of Edinburgh.

The successful applicant will be one of the team of therapists and assistants delivering programmes of therapy input to children with Speech Language and Communication needs. You will be required to produce multiple copies of resources and training packs of materials using the pc/copier/laminator. You will be required to do some typing, filing and preparation of Boardmaker picture library materials. You will be part of a busy team often working to tight deadlines and must be able to complete tasks quickly and efficiently. After a period of training there may be opportunities to support more experienced staff in delivering training materials in nursery settings.

It is essential that you are familiar with Microsoft Office software such as Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint and that your written and spoken English language skills are of a high standard. It is desirable that you have previous experience of Boardmaker, although some training on this can be provided.

The speech and language therapy service is innovative and supportive.  It is committed to the principles of clinical governance and clinical effectiveness to provide a high quality service focused on the child’s needs.  Support is provided for staff in district based and clinically focused teams. All staff have a personal development plan and are encouraged to extend their skills through a variety of CPD activities.

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post. 

Please note: As this post is part-time the salary will be pro-rata.
