Within Supply Chain & Operations, our Procurement practice works with clients to address mission critical issues for the Chief Procurement Officer (CPO), creating value and delivering world-class capabilities, leveraging the EY brand as impartial, trusted advisors. A growth and focus area for us is Procurement within the Technology, Media & Telecoms (TMT) sector – a real opportunity to lead the expansion of our portfolio of work in this critical space.

Joining EY’s Supply Chain team as a Director gives the right candidate an opportunity to be involved in our exciting growth journey, allowing you to have a say in the future shape of our involvement in TMT across Procurement. You will leading on new business opportunities, including originating sales, running proposals, pitching for new work, and acting as a focal point for internal initiatives.

 

Your key responsibilities

 

As a Director, you’ll balance client delivery, business development, operational and people leadership working with EY and our client leaders alike. You will also build your own networks working within Consulting, TMT across our wider business as necessary to meet our client demands.

 

You are expected to have technical knowledge and experience to have delivered Procurement programmes within the TMT sector. This will include to:

 

Develop our people

  • Be part of the C&P and TMT leadership teams to support ongoing development of our people and practice
  • Manage, nurture and coach those you work with and undertake career counselling responsibilities
  • Be an inclusive leader capable of forming diverse high performing teams that are enjoyable to be part of and help our consultant and client teams to develop and realise their potential

 

Develop our business

  • Lead proposals and draw on your procurement knowledge and TMT experience to create innovative commercial solutions for clients, adapt methods and practices 
  • Engage the market with thought leadership and public profile affecting TMT e.g. regulation changes, impact of cost of living, increase focus on vendor sustainability
  • Build new and existing clients to foster trusted long-term relationships, gaining trusted-advisor status, with focus on key decision-makers from large TMT companies in the UK 
  • Work across our internal sector and account field of play teams to develop your network, bringing our commercial and procurement expertise to bear
  • Understand ERP & Digital Solutions across the Procurement value chain, along with the underlying Source to Payment process 

 

Focus on our clients

  • nd be a recognised TMT leader in Commercial and Procurement
  • Proactively develop a book of business across TMT clients and manage multiple projects concurrently, often with resources in different parts of EY and geographies
  • Harness a global network to establish relationships, include other services lines and relevant subject matter insight, TMT knowledge and support to enhance client relationships

 

Supporting the above, it will be important to bring an understanding and ability to apply relevant technologies such as:

  • Core Procurement enablement systems e.g. SAP Ariba, Oracle
  • Digital tools across Source to Contract (e.g. Globality, Cirtuo), Supplier Relationship Management (e.g. riskmethods), purchase to pay (e.g. fairmarkit)
  • Procurement Analytics
  • Service Management Tools (e.g. ServiceNow)
  • RPA / Intelligent Automation technology

 

To qualify for the role you must have:

  • A background in management consulting or have delivered multiple large scale Procurement transformations in industry
  • Significant experience working in the Technology, Media & Telecoms Sector, for example in areas such as telecom networks, handsets, CPE; media categories such as data, software, IT
  • A track record of pipeline management and conversion into Sales and Revenue generation
  • Experience of delivering large-scale Procurement transformation programmes and/or savings programmes
  • Proven ability to engage, manage and build senior relationships
  • Experience of business development and solution design for complex multi-national businesses

 

Ideally, you'll also bring:

  • Ability to create solutions to technical problems
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to storyboard and create high quality outputs
  • Excellent problem solving, facilitation, and presentation skills
  • Track record of line managing professional services staff, including coaching and developing staff
  • Experience of having run large Technology enabled Procurement transformations
  • Understanding of latest trends and practices in the supplier management e.g. driven by developments in the Telecoms Security Act
