Staff Nurse - CAMHS Community Mental Health in Glasgow

Job description

Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) have an exciting opportunity for band 5 nurses to gain experience over a range of CAMHS services.   These are (permanent) rotational band 5 posts within all GG&C CAMHS community and inpatient teams. This will be a flexible position enabling short term workforce demands to be met.  The post holder will have responsibility for the joint assessment and treatment planning of patient care within a CAMHS community or inpatient setting.  The post holder provides a service to a defined geographical area for young people and their families who are experiencing moderate to severe psychiatric disorders and neuro-developmental disorders. This also includes those whose vulnerability and mental health is impacting negatively on most areas of their life.  You will be expected to carry out all relevant forms of care in partnership with patients, families/carers and other service providers. A systemic approach is necessary, which involves offering interventions which take account of the young person and significant others, such as family members, other service providers and education.  Participation in regular clinical and line management supervision with a named Mental Health Nurse, and developing the role of the band 5 nurse within the multidisciplinary team will be a key aspect of the role.  The post holder may be expected to participate in the provision of on call/out of hours cover on a rotational basis which will involve working out-with normal hours.  Applicants should be 1st level Registered Mental Nurse(RMN) or (LD) Registered Nurse with live NMC registration, have evidence of team working skills, excellent communication and organisational skills, an ability to work using own initiative and without direct supervision in the context of agreed tasks. Demonstrates a positive attitude towards children and young people and knowledge of factors which impact on mental health and emotional well-being. An ability to fulfill main duties and responsibilities as outlined in job description. Demonstrates an ability/willingness to work towards achieving the competencies identified in ‘Essential CAMHS’. The applicant should ideally also be a car owner and hold a full Driving License.  As part of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s pre-employment checking for all appointed candidates, evidence of current NMC registration will be required prior to start date. You should therefore note candidates who are unable to provide confirmation of current NMC registration, in line with projected start date for this post, may not be short listed for interview. This post requires PVG Scheme. Nurses who were interviewed as part of the NQN centralised interviews should not apply.
