Emergency Nurse Practitioner/ Trainee Emergency Nurse Practitioner
We are looking to recruit additional members of staff to our minor injuries services within Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The Minor Injuries Units is located at the Leeds General Infirmary where we see and treat over 70,000 patients per year.
An exciting opportunity has opened up for dynamic, motivated and innovative Emergency Nurse Practitioners / Urgent Care Practitioners / Trainee Practitioners to join our team of highly skilled staff. These positions would be suitable for those who wish to further their careers within a hospital environment where clinical roles are rapidly advancing in order to meet the challenges of the new NHS.
This post has recently opened up opportunities to Allied Health Professionals who also wish to work in the Emergency Department Setting utilising skills and knowledge obtained having undertaken a qualification or willing to undertake a course in the Management of Minor Injuries and are permitted by their qualification under the HCPC to administer and supply PGD’s.
These posts will offer the right candidates the exciting opportunity to extend their practice and deliver high quality care to service users attending the Minor Injuries Units. Candidates will autonomously assess, diagnose, treat and discharge or refer patients according to their clinical condition. As a trainee the candidates will be trained in the management of minor injuries and supported to gain relevant competencies while attending university and gaining their qualification and also work under supervision in the clinical setting.
All positions will require working a flexible shift pattern to meet the needs of the service 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Essential Criteria
Allied Health Professionals
- Have a recognised qualification in Management of Minor Injuries
- Or be willing to undertake the Minor Injuries Course
- Be an Allied Health Professional who is able to administer and supply PGD’s
- Extended experience at Band 5 or equivalent in a First Contact setting, minimum 3 years post registration experience
- Agree to undertake and pass a recognised x-ray interpretation course within 18 months of commencing employment unless competent at time of appointment
Registered Nurses
- Have a recognised qualification in the Management of Minor Injuries
- Or be willing to undertake the Minor Injuries Course
- Registered Nurse (Level 1)
- Agree to undertake and pass a recognised x-ray interpretation course within 18 months of commencing employment unless competent at time of appointment
Desirable Criteria
- Have the competence to diagnose Adult and Paediatric X-Rays independently
- Have an additional qualification in Management of Minor Illness
- Have a recognised Teaching qualification
