We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this newly formed team in the role of Associate Director, Strats, FRM.

As part of a global team the role will involve working with multiple regional teams with a view to identifying best practice in terms of Financial Resource Management (FRM) and introducing those ideas and processes across regions. These include the use of technology, statistical analysis and risk management techniques as well as the enhancement of relevant models.

The role will work on and drive specific work streams to identify and execute on opportunities to improve the profitability of the business using quantitative analysis, developing tools to monitor risks to profitability and working in cross functional teams to implement changes to the technology stack. This includes, but is not limited to, funding costs, interest rate risk, reserves, liquidity risk and RWAs

In this role you will

  • Support the FRM function to monetize opportunities through: Development &documentation of models / methods, Development of test/release tools, Identification of new and innovative opportunities
  • Strong advocate for CMB FRM & Strats capabilities.
  • Provide commercially driven thought leadership in to the design and calibration of relevant models in particular those used for pricing
  • Support efforts to drive culture change across the organisation to embed quantiative tooling in to increasingly automated processes in asset classes that are becoming technology driven in the marketplace
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders within Global Businesses and Global Functions (e.g. Global Risk Analytics, Wholesale Credit Risk, Treasury, Finance & Balance Sheet Management) and actively participate in cross-functional working groups
  • Demonstrate strong communication and influencing skills across peers, management, colleagues within the regions/countries to removing barriers to change
  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects HSBC brand
  • Deliver fair outcomes for our customers and ensure own conduct maintains the orderly and transparent operation of financial markets
Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements

  • Broad-based commercial banking / financial service experience with preference for those who have focused on credit, rates or cash management markets
  • Proven track record within a strats / quant / analytics / data function and experience in model development within financial data and data analytics
  • Very highly numerate with a strong background in mathematic disciplines e.g. computer science, statistics, physics, engineering, etc
  • Deep knowledge of software development and experience in a range of coding languages e.g. Python, C++
  • Strong commercial acumen and execution capabilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience of preparing and presenting recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders
  • Result oriented and team player

This role has a hybrid working pattern. You will work from HSBC offices at Canada Square, London and your home base
