Job description
NHS Grampian invites enthusiastic, qualified applicants for this Fixed Term Speciality Doctor post, based within Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital. This post would suit Doctors with Paediatric experience of ST 4 level or above. The successful applicants will contribute to the Middle Grade out-of-hours rota, and will be expected to rotate between Paediatric and its Sub-Specialities, depending upon service needs. Those candidates who wish to pursue their career in a particular area of interest will be supported.
The Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital has a total of 93 beds, providing specialist inpatient and outpatient care in Medical Paediatrics and its sub-specialities, General Paediatric Surgery, Orthopaedic and Plastic Surgery, ENT, Dermatology, Orthodontics, ophthalmology, Clinical Genetics and Child and Family Psychiatry. The Department of Community Child Health and a purpose built Child Protection suite are located within the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital. RACH has its own Accident and Emergency Department under direct Consultant supervision. There are approximately 8000 attendances annually of which two thirds are acute admissions. The Paediatric service is delivered by a total of 22 medical & surgical Consultants, 10 Associate specialists, two Speciality doctors and 15 RCPCH trainees.
