We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Relationship Manager

Through Business Banking (BB) our global network offers comprehensive support and services to businesses in the SME market. From expanding overseas to managing the cash and trade flows of an established enterprise, the Business Banking team of Relationship Managers and Product Specialists provides a range of end-to- end solutions designed to help small and large businesses reach their potential

The role of the Relationship Manager - Business Banking is to acquire, retain and expand relationships with customers we want to bank within Business Banking. You will maximise profitability by identifying customer needs first and then recommending appropriate solutions for the customer to consider and accept. You will regularly meet with customers and will deal with business turnover of up to 15M GBP. You will provide dedicated relationship management with accountability for business development, service, risk and operational delivery. Credit risk assessment is a fundamental element of this role.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Face to face meetings with SME clients, with an average of 80-100 clients in portfolio. Portfolio value approx. £1m. SME clients with turnover £2-15m.
  • Supporting customers and placing their needs at the forefront of all that we do, setting world class standards
  • Seeking new opportunities and nurturing existing relationships to identify new business opportunities
  • Building a network of business introducers in the local professional and business community
  • Adhere to structures and processes in place for the management of credit, operational, reputation, financial crime and regulatory risk
  • Focus on growing the business sustainably, by identifying opportunities to expand a portfolio and broadening client relationships by leveraging HSBC's extensive network
  • Drive revenue growth through understanding customer needs and by adopting a needs-based approach which engages clients and increases new business
  • Effectively manage work and support resources to increase quality and time of client visits opportunities
  • Collaborate with Group colleagues to deliver appropriate needs-based solutions for customers
  • Build a strong understanding of the client's business and industry to promote insights, enrich client conversations and deliver fair outcomes
  • Deepen understanding of the client through pro-active credit risk assessments and customer due diligence reviews
  • Confidently manage financial crime risk throughout the client lifecycle by identifying, assessing, accepting, monitoring, escalating and mitigating risk
Requirements

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • Commercial lending track record and technical ability. Analysis of corporate organisations and CARM/Browser main menu.
  • Proven ability of complex lending with an average lend of 500K plus
  • Experience working in relevant environment/s, i.e. Business/Corporate Banking
  • Proven ability in identifying and meeting customer needs
  • Proven experience of leading the delivery of an excellent customer service and proactively look for innovative ways to improve the service delivered to customers
  • Built effective networks across business areas, developing relationships based on mutual trust and encouraging others to do the same 
  • A comprehensive understanding of risk management and proven experience of ensuring own/others' compliance with relevant regulatory processes
  • Ability to gather, analyse and interpret comprehensive information and/or customer requirements in order to provide solutions that are commercially viable and sustainable.
  • Planning and organisational skills in order to manage the unexpected as well as anticipated issues or events, so that success can still be achieved
  • Experience of building and managing complex relationships. Influencing skills and ability to builds positive working relationships with our customers, colleagues and stakeholders.
  • The preferred base location for this role will be within the vicinity of Middlesbrough. It is a hybrid role with travel to Newcastle and York commercial centres / offices as required.
