The assistant is an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team providing essential support to professional and senior staff. The post holder will be delegated appropriate tasks by professionally qualified team members including: Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Dietitians, Speech and Language Therapist, Nurses, Podiatrist and Pharmacist. The post holder will assist those professionals working under their supervision and guidance in undertaking both clinical and non-clinical tasks. It is expected that the assistant will work independently with patients in a range of settings working predominantly with individuals in their own home, centres and community based locations within the agreed rehabilitation/intervention plan. Training, supervision and support will be provided to enable the assistant to work within their agree competence levels. The post holder will provide an essential role in clinical service delivery ensuring, contribution to the patient ongoing re-assessment under guidance of relevant registered professional and provide feedback on patient functioning. Support workers are supervised and directed by professionals, and carry out delegated tasks within a framework of supervision. Following appointment, the post holder will, working as a member of a multidisciplinary team, assist in and deliver treatment as delegated by appropriate professional. This may involve assisting individuals to: Improve or sustain mobility by moving and handling, transferring and walking of clients in a competent manner consistent with statutory training and participate in exercise programmes. You should be willing to undertake the following and manage to complete them within 12 months of appointment:
- Computing skills
- Moving and handling
- Local Service based training programme
- Statutory training e.g. Diversity, fire etc
You should have experience working in a paid or voluntary capacity within a community setting with relevant experience in rehabilitative care. The shift pattern for this post is worked 5 days over 7 and 7.5hr shifts.
