Being an Activities Coordinator is so much more than just organising programmes. It's providing care and support to some of the most vulnerable people in society so they can do something they couldn't do before. It's what delivering great healthcare should feel like.

Working 37.5 hours a week, you will join the team at Adderley Green in Stoke-On-Trent. In this role, you will create an activity-based culture, which will see you use technical and creative skills to assist in developing, delivering, and coordinating programmes focused on social, recreational and leisure activities.

In conjunction with Therapists and Nursing staff, you will develop & organise an activities programme for all residents within the units.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • To work within the rehabilitation approach and the philosophy for Adderley Green Care Centre
  • To assist residents in identifying appropriate activity sessions compatible with resident’s interests and goals.
  • To research prospective activities within each unit and the community. Completing basic risk assessments regarding residents, materials and environment. Seek advice from therapists, psychologists and nursing staff regarding complex situations.
  • To plan organise and supervise an activity programme adjusting as necessary according to residents changing needs/abilities and their Medical history which may change and have an impact upon participation in activity programmes.
  • Ensure programmes are being carried out appropriately.
  • To ensure the Health & Safety of residents and staff at all times in accordance with Health & Safety legislation and Adderley Green Care Centre policy and procedures.
  • To review effectiveness of activities programme and make changes as appropriate under guidance of therapists.
  • To maintain an inventory of equipment and ensure supplies are requested on a timely basis.
  • To liaise closely with nurse in charge and therapists on a daily basis
  • To report any concerns about residents to the therapists/ nurse in charge i.e. changes in medical status/ability to participate in sessions/client’s behaviour.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • Previous experience of working with adults and or young people with mental health disorders
  • Full clean UK driving license 
  • Ability to build and maintain therapeutic relationships
  • Minimum 12 months experience within healthcare
  • Any other specific skills which can be utilised in this setting: Art & Craft, Horticulture, Cooking, Music
  • Previous experience in organising/facilitating social events and activities.
  • Any relevant certificates, courses and skills that would enhance the delivery and diversity of therapeutic activities
