Job description

Introduction

If you are naturally caring and are looking for a rewarding career where you can make a difference to the lives of others, then join the team at Garden & Jacobs Neurological Centre as a Healthcare Assistant.

Whether you are:

  • Already a Healthcare Assistant/Support Worker in the NHS or private sector, or
  • Are looking for a new career where you can use your transferable skills;

You can enjoy a long-term career full of job satisfaction at Elysium as a Healthcare Assistant.

You’ll be equipped with the knowledge and practical skills to have the confidence to join the team, where you will be valued and supported, with continuous career development opportunities available to help you achieve your career aspirations.

It can be very physical working with people with limited mobility, providing personal care (feeding, washing, and showering) and although challenging, it is highly rewarding. You’ll be supported by a team of colleagues ready to lend a hand and work together to a common goal.

Being a Healthcare Assistant at Garden & Jacobs Neurological Centre is a career that you can take pride in. It’s what delivering great healthcare should feel like.

What you will be doing

You will join a supportive multi-disciplinary team that works well together in caring for people of all ages who are living with neurological and long-term conditions, including those living with physical disabilities and recovering from traumatic injuries, and providing a high level of personal and rehabilitative care.

Training and support will be provided to ensure you can provide high-quality and progressive care. You will work as part of a wider team, led by registered nurses and therapy teams to deliver the individual care each person needs while maintaining accurate records.

The service is a 24/7 environment, with full time hours either 8am-8pm for days or 8pm-8am for nights.  Part-time hours are a combination of early shifts (8am-2pm) and late shifts (2pm-8pm). Both positions are across the full week so there are no set days in which you will work, with weekends included on a rota.

You’ll join our teams that support people who have complex rehabilitation needs such as tracheostomies/ventilated/peg feeds and who have extensive and long-term rehabilitation goals. In some cases, people’s mobility and speech can be affected and we work closely with a range of other services including wheelchair, speech and alternative communication aid providers.

Where you will be working

Gardens Neurological Centre and Jacobs Neurological Centre have a combined total of 132 beds on the same site in Sawbridgeworth (CM21 0HH), which is on the Hertfordshire and Essex border within easy travelling distance of London and Cambridge.

The two Centres deliver specialist 24-hour nursing and therapy services for people with complex long-term neurological conditions, and brain or spinal injuries who require ongoing support and assistance to maximise functional ability.

Recovery is assisted wherever possible, with emphasis placed on maximising each individual's abilities, comfort and quality of life.

Each service has communal lounges, dining rooms, and all bedrooms have en-suite facilities with over 95% on single occupancy. All rooms are adapted to each resident's requirements according to their assessments and needs.

What you will get

  • Annual salary of £22,113 (37.5 Hours a week)
  • £500 welcome bonus*
  • Enhancement rates for nights, weekends and bank holidays
  • The equivalent of 33 days annual leave (inc. Bank Holidays) – plus your birthday off!
  • Subsidised meals and free parking
  • Wellbeing support and activities
  • Career development and training
  • Pension contribution
  • Life Assurance
  • Enhanced Maternity Package
  • Flexible working opportunities

There are also a range of other benefits including retail discounts and special offers and much more.
