Tax and Law is a successful and growing service line within EY providing market leading tax services across 13 markets covering compliance and reporting, tax advisory services and technology enabled transformation.

 

Our business operations team sits at the heart of our business, with this role acting as the glue that links the support to the business. We ensure that knowledge is gained and shared, connections made, issues identified, escalated and solutions acted upon. It offers great insight and exposure to all aspects of our successful business.

 

The long term agenda for our business is to deliver sustainable and profitable growth, ensuring support functions are aligned to the changing needs of our client facing teams. Senior stakeholder management, problem solving, numerical and analytical skills, reporting and time management are a must.

Reporting directly to EMEIA Tax & Law leadership, this role allows direct engagement with Tax Partner leaders in each of the EMEIA country practices.

 

Your key responsibilities (but not limited to)

  • Partnering with the business to evaluate performance against financial plan targets and other key performance drivers, providing analysis and issues identification to drive financial results
  • Drive and coordinate the build out of operational excellence across the markets, through the sharing of best practice and metric-based performance monitoring & challenge
  • Support Tax leadership in identifying, creating and leading ad hoc projects to drive performance and operational excellence
  • Responsible for maintaining regular performance reporting, including financial modelling
  • Support the EMEIA wide pricing initiatives

 

Skills and attributes for success

As we work with stakeholders across multiple geographies, functions and levels, experience of managing multiple stakeholders is key. 
We work very closely with the finance function and often need to be able to interpret financial information and perform financial analysis and so a strong financial knowledge and skillset is essential.
Being responsible for the whole Tax Region, an essential part of working within operations is being organised, proactive and collaborative.

 

To qualify for the role, you must have 

  • Curious and enthusiastic to understand and solve business issues
  • Strong analytical skills with high degree of accuracy and detail conscious
  • Exposure to how EY, or similar entity, operates as a business
  • Experience of working with Excel, as a significant part of the role requires working with figures
  • Able to work largely on own initiative and be proactive in developing and building knowledge

 

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • An understanding of our Tax and Legal Business, including client service offerings 
  • A network across the firm that you can leverage to enhance your success
  • Demonstratable experience working on projects
  • Experience of working within an Operations function or undertaking work with the aim of improving operational excellence

Proficient with computer skills including basic business software (Power BI, Word, Power Point, Advanced Excel, Outlook, and Explorer) and able to pick up new systems quickly.
