Global Manager Selection - Fund & ETFs (GMS) is the designated Centre of Reference in charge of selection, research and approval of all funds and ETFs, which are sold/distributed by various HSBC Group business such as Wealth and Personal Banking (WPB), Private Banking, and various Insurance entities, across the globe. GMS is a global team, based in London and Bangalore, responsible for mutual funds and ETFs across all the asset classes encompassing Equity, Fixed Income, and Multi-Asset.

In addition to fund and ETF selection, the team manages GBP&W’s strategic partnership programme. The team works with 25 strategic fund and ETF partners who have shown strong of capabilities across Product, People, Marketing, Servicing and Training to support key Funds and ETFs initiatives across the GPB&W markets. Strategic partners have been selected based on a detailed review of their investment and distribution/marketing capabilities, with the expectation that the majority of funds required by GPB&W markets can be sourced from them. A high level of service to support HSBC clients is also expected. Beyond these 25 strategic partners, HSBC maintains an open architecture platform for funds and ETFs to access some assets classes, investment style, or niche products, where our partners do not have suitable solutions. 

Role Purpose:

The role will be part of the Global Manager Selection team with responsibility for managing GPB&W’s strategic asset manager partnerships. S/He will lead a programme of regular engagement with the strategic partners, involving GMS lead analysts, the GPB&W Chief Investment Office (CIO), and senior HSBC stakeholders as appropriate. The successful candidate will maintain on-going dialogue with the partners on GPB&Ws investment themes with a key focus on idea generation. The role holder will ensure that GPB&W markets will be managed and organized as single client entity and will ensure a consistent level of servicing and marketing support. The role holder will work collaboratively with local markets and strategic partners to identify demand for customized or bespoke product launches. The role will also be responsible for commercial negotiations, ensuring that global retrocession agreements are applied consistently across markets.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate relationships between Asset Management partners and HSBC at senior and C-suite level 
  • Manage day to day relationships with strategic partners, ensuring that GPB&W partnership expectations are met
  • Collaborate with GMS lead analysts, CIO team and local markets to identify product needs and work with strategic partners to build appropriate solutions.  
  • Work with strategic partners to ensure that High Conviction funds are registered in all relevant markets and that appropriate marketing support and training in available to local GBP&W fund specialists.
  • Manage commercial negotiations with Asset Manager partners ensuring optimal outcomes for GBP&W
  • Conduct on-going reviews of individual partnerships ensuring that they remain relevant and meet GBP&W requirements
Requirements

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Extensive experience in the Funds / Asset Management industry.
  • Proven experience in managing strategic partnerships
  • Professional qualifications / certifications like an MBA or Masters with Finance specialization are a positive.
  • Practical knowledge / experience of financial markets, macroeconomic environment, risk management, regulations and their application to the fund market.
  • An analytical mindset and attention to detail.
  • Good writing and communication skills.
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Proactive, positive attitude and ability to multi-task especially under pressure to meet time sensitive deadlines.
  • Team player, strong organizational and time management skills, and people management experience.
  • Strong Microsoft office skills, including excel and PowerPoint.
