About the Role

Reporting to the Brand & Packaging Manager you will be working in line with a critical path process to bring new and existing products, ranges, and completely new Brands to market through the creation, sign off and delivery of final artwork through to print.

This role is primarily focused on the development and delivery of consistent Own Brand packaging. Managing Packaging projects through the CPA calendar from initial concept identification through to the full, successful end delivery. You will develop and explore new and innovative packaging concepts for feasibility that turn into real artwork solutions, whilst liaising with product suppliers and cross functional teams to gather necessary information such as cutter guides, packaging/print specs, creative and pack copy to commence artwork.

Key Responsibilities but not limited to:

  • Produce detailed artwork briefs and working closely with artwork agencies to ensure accuracy of artwork and that brand guidelines are adhered to. Whilst ensuring an efficient artwork cycle with minimal amend rounds.
  • Create packaging mock ups to explore new concepts, layout, cutter guide, text positioning, range hierarchy and segmentation whilst actively solving any problems with wider team.
  • Develop an expert knowledge of our Brands and act as guardian in the correct and consistent delivery on pack.
  • Complete market and competitor analysis and production of supporting reports to inform packaging approaches.
  • Organise and run photoshoots, from initial briefing, pre-shoot organisation to attendance and overseeing the end result.
  • Producing approved colour standards to be supplied to printers for accurate matching on press. Sign off of digital and physical print proofs for content, quality and colour consistency.
  • Organise and run pre-production meetings with suppliers, agency and printers to ensure the best possible outcome of print production. Focusing on correct file setup across different formats and print processes.
  • Implementation of thorough post launch reviews of projects to evaluate and identify opportunities to improve in future range reviews.
  • Cost analysis management of artwork projects ensuring that costs are raised accurately and as forecasted.
  • Management of associated administration including filing / organization of archive material including packaging samples through junior member of the team, occasionally covering if needed i.e holidays, absences, etc.
  • Manage and provide support, guidance and regular check ins to the Junior Packaging Leads in the team sharing our experience and expertise to promoting a culture of sharing to create a knowledgeable and best in class Packaging professionals
  • Leading the training and the development of the junior members of the team.
  • Identify and drive the ongoing development of packaging processes within the team to develop an environment of continuous improvement in Packaging processes in ways of working within the team and the cross functionally to increase overall efficiencies, by reducing time and reduce costs in artwork production.
  • Proactively create an awareness industry bodies such as OPRL to ensure PAH’s full compliance with updates in guidance and the relevant updates to O/L artworks, ensuring the management and full update in accordance with guidance changes.
  • Key champions of the full rollout and delivery of the Packaging sustainability goals to support our Better World Pledge targets.
  • Actively identify through industry knowledge, and support, champion any sustainability and legislative packaging changes through the team for timely delivery.
