We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as Global Head of IRRBB Models & Measurement

Job summary: -

As part of Global Treasury, Markets Treasury is responsible for managing Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book (IRRBB). The Global IRRBB function within Markets Treasury is accountable for the modelling, frameworks and measurement of IRRBB for HSBC.
Our ambition is to become a best in class IRRBB function through:   

  • Establishing a benchmark Structural Hedge that achieves a desired level of NII sensitivity
  • Maximise sources of hedging capacity and enabling efficient management of financial resources in management of IRRBB 
  • Ensure all material IRRBB risks are consistently captured and measured
  • Ensure people and technology resources are commensurate with size and complexity of IRRBB risks 

To achieve this, we are expanding our IRRBB team to support the implementation of HSBC’s IRRBB strategy.  We are implementing a new team structure, reporting to the Global Head of IRRBB, we are seeking experienced individuals to join the team in critical, senior roles.

Requirements

Minimum criteria: -

  • Substantial experience in a Treasury business environment in a leadership role
  • Relevant education and professional qualification an advantage but not a must
  • Strong knowledge of IRRBB risk management, particularly provision of IRRBB related MI and regulatory reporting, governance frameworks, and external regulatory environment 
  • Relevant product knowledge with emphasis on banking book products, structural hedging frameworks, and associated modelling and metrics (NII, EVE etc), across a combination of regulatory requirements and optimisation initiatives, with role-relevant qualifications, i.e. Accounting, Financial Analysis or similar
  • Experience with relevant IRRBB systems, data and modelling infrastructure
  • A broad understanding of financial budgets/ models, with experience of analysing data effectively for planning, forecasting and reporting
  • Good broad understanding of broader treasury operations and banking issues – Liquidity, funding and cash management, capital, transfer pricing would be helpful.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and project management skills 
  • Proven experience and ability in resolving complex issues through leadership, influence and negotiation with a variety of stakeholder across geography, discipline and the governance chain
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills; strong track record in engaging, challenging and influencing business performance in a large matrix organisation
  • Ability to communicate in an effective and professional manner with senior management
  • Build teams embracing the need for diverse and inclusive cultures, reflecting the profile of our internal and external stakeholder community
  • Inspires and delivers high performance in respect of implementation of change, articulation of business impact and engagement of stakeholders, within a complex matrix structure
  • Strong team player with refined interpersonal skills – flexible in working and interpersonal style; connect with others across reporting lines, across functions, across markets.
