Job Title: Agile Tooling Design and Implementation Lead

Our technology teams in the UK work closely with HSBC’s global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world’s leading international bank.

Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.

 

Role Description:

HSBC Group is undergoing a significant transformation to new, agile ways of working that build closer business partnerships and more focused delivery for our customers. 

Speed of Work was initiated in September 2021, it is a multiyear initiative, to simplify and accelerate delivery through end-to-end Agile Transformation, including:

  • Increase Agile Maturity, design and transition to VS operating model in each GBGF
  • Implement QBR and LPM governance supported by strategic tooling suite
  • Transition to Technology Platforms with cross-functional Agile Teams
  • Agile training, coaching and culture change
  • Finance simplification
  • DevSecOps, focused on increasing speed of delivery and optimising Technology costs via automation of manual activities and optimisation of consumption

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead design and delivery of the Agile Strategic Tooling across the HSBC Group working in partnership with GBGFs and key group stakeholders, such as Group Transformation
  • Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with the Strategic Tooling team, the wider Speed of Work programme and key GBGF stakeholders to ensure full mutual understanding of the Strategic Tooling delivery objectives, to report on and review performance, to agree solutions that resolve complex issues and to generate positive feedback from end users of the Strategic Tooling.
  • Assist business stakeholders with the decomposition of complex business requirements into Features and User Stories that can be delivered by Technology teams via respective backlogs with minimum cross product co-ordination
  • Promote continuous improvement and innovation within the project and maintain communication and lessons learned; build mutually beneficial partnerships with GBGF stakeholders,
  • Drive the use of Agile methodologies and Strategic Tools within Technology teams in line with corresponding transformation frameworks at the bank
  • Manage the reporting of progress, issues, dependencies and risks to committees and make recommendations to influence decision making in order to maintain progress towards delivery and benefits realisation
Requirements

Essential Skillset/Experience:

  • Experience designing, iterating, and delivering Agile transformations in large scale multi-geography organisations
  • Extensive understanding of Scaled Agile principles and the required tools to enable them, with experience and working in scaled agile environment and with Tools e.g. Clarity, Rally, Jira, with industry recognised expertise and working in scaled Agile environment
  • Skilled Strategic Tooling SME with a strategic mind-set and the gravitas to lead, motivate and coach HSBC Group to be high performing; this role needs to understand Strategic Tooling and its necessary complications/details but also able to come up a level and understand and translate this into a Group wide strategy
  • An expert in Strategic Tooling related to Agile practices with in-depth knowledge of the latest techniques and trends and their practical application
  • An advocate for Agile ways of working with a passion for building high performing teams. Someone who can inspire and influence people from all disciplines across all areas of an organisation
  • An ability to work independently in a very dynamic environment, with an attention to detail, an eye for spotting trends, articulate in written and verbal communication who is able to present and support their own conclusions to senior audiences
  • Have demonstrable experience building communities of practice and creating an inclusive culture
  • Passion, interest and demonstrated experience in complex and matrixed teams

 

The role will be based in London.
