Job Title: Lead Metrics Developer

Our technology teams in the UK work closely with HSBC’s global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world’s leading international bank.

Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.

 

Role Description:

The Lead Metrics Developer role is responsible for developing data pipelines and front end dashboards to deliver metrics and insights to both senior executives and cybersecurity business operations.

 

The position is a highly technical role requiring a breadth of data analytics and reporting skills with an opportunity to interact directly with senior leaders and solve some of the most challenging problems in Cybersecurity. An ideal candidate would have:

  • Deep expertise and experience in building enterprise solutions using reporting (Power BI) and data pipeline (PySpark, SQL) tooling;
  • A combination of deep technical and stakeholder management skills;
  • Interest in solving big data and cybersecurity problems;
  • Desire to make an impact through presentation of actionable facts and figures to management and operations.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Engaging stakeholders within Cybersecurity to understand their reporting requirements and translate them into a set of reporting dashboard
  • Design, build, deliver and maintain reporting data pipelines using cloud based tooling (experience of Databricks, Azure Synapse or Snowflake is highly desirable)
  • Design, build, deliver and maintain multiple Cybersecurity Metrics dashboards in Power BI distributed to hundreds of users
  • Deliver reporting products while following Agile best practices
  • Mentor junior members of the team on best practices and aiming to help improve the team’s overall performance
  • Partner and collaborate closely with the other parts of CS&A to jointly develop analytics products and solve problems with data for customers and stakeholders
Requirements

Essential Skillset/Experience:

  • Experience in data analytics and reporting roles;
  • Experience building and maintaining complex Business Intelligence dashboards and reports in PowerBI (preferred), Tableau, Splunk or similar systems.
  • Experience in building and maintaining complex cloud based data applications in Azure using Databricks (preferred), Microsoft Synapse, Snowflake or similar tooling.
  • Intermediate to advance SQL experience with ability to design and implement reporting data models.
  • Strong communicator with experience of engaging senior stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and convert them to a set of interactive BI dashboards.
  • (Preferred) Experience of wireframing and analytics product exploration approaches with stakeholders.
  • (Preferred) Experience with data processing using shell scripts including python, bash, or similar including log parsing/extraction, data cleansing, and data analytics.
  • (Preferred) Experience and understanding of Cybersecurity operations centres and controls environment
  • (Preferred) Experience with the python data science ecosystem (jupyter, pandas, numpy, matplotlib, etc.)
  • (Preferred) Experience of coaching and mentoring junior colleagues in technical teams.
  • Any relevant Azure certifications would be a plus such as Azure Developer Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Data Scientist Associate, or Azure Data Engineer Associate.

 

The role will be based in Sheffield but will only require you to go into the office once a month.
