The Role

This position is key to the successful rollout of new products and platforms to continue transforming the online experience for our H&B customers. You will lead development of new features, and help us build high quality React components using module federation, and the latest front-end technologies. We embrace robust, scalable and fast to market web features together with great UX.

Some of the essential day to day tasks and skills for this position are listed below. It's important to highlight that this is an evolving role, with multiple new, challenging tasks arising all the time. The position sits in our BX Online Department, Attraction Squad.

 

Key requirements:

Day to day tasks & responsibilities, but not limited to:

  • Oversee project strategies, processes and pitch improvements
  • Attend and coordinate standup meetings and help with task estimations
  • Work on tasks from the current sprint, report and pitch on progress
  • Design product upgrades and improvements
  • Maintain technical documentation
  • Support the build of high quality products
  • Review merge requests from other developers, and support where necessary
  • Collaborate with other developers and share best practice
  • Guide the QA engineer with testing
  • Update the product manager with progress and estimates
  • Share knowledge and innovations, improve the squads outputs and function
  • Do remote demos to stakeholders
  • Help team to resolve any necessary issues and bugs

Skills and requirements:

  • Code in modern JavaScript using React, we'd like you to have 5+ years' experience
  • Have a great understanding of Typescript
  • Possess a strong understanding of REST & GraphQL APIs
  • Ability to compose responsive code using latest CSS techniques
  • Write unit tests using jest & be able to write component tests using react-testing-library or similar
  • Be familiar with Storybook and writing story shot tests
  • Run Docker containers in local dev environment
  • Basic shell scripting including CLI tools
  • Collaborate and contribute to the various features being built as part of the product roadmap in a team
  • Break large problems into sub-tasks and take operational responsibility.

 

We offer a flexible, home-based working model. We have offices in Nuneaton and London, but you will not be required to be office-based (unless you would like to!) All candidates must be UK based.
