Our technology teams in the UK work closely with HSBC’s global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world’s leading international bank.

Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.

We work in small, agile DevOps teams with colleagues around the world from our offices at the Bluefin Building in Southwark, our global headquarters in Canary Wharf, and multiple other locations around the UK including Sheffield, Leeds, Barnsley and Birmingham.

Following extensive investment across our Technology and Digital domains and with plans for continued expansion throughout 20nn and beyond, we are currently seeking a Transformation Portfolio Lead, Connectivity to join HSBC Technology.

HSBC’s Digital Business Services is a key part of the Group, providing essential operational and technical support to our global businesses and helping improve customer service and efficiency. DBS combines global expertise and technology to help keep us ahead of the competition.

The Chief Technology Office (CTO) manages Cloud and IT infrastructure critical for HSBC employees and customers, such as hardware, system software, middleware and databases, Data Centers, Voice and Data networks, Cloud & External Infrastructure services, ATMs, Desktops and other devices.

Within CTO, Connectivity provides global services covering networks, security, voice, video, contact centre, trade floor and media recording. We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in a key role as the Transformation Portfolio Lead.

 Reporting to the Connectivity Head of Transformation and Business Management, the person will work to ensure world class technology that enables business success by leading strategy and delivery, with customer experience and controls at the heart of what we do.

The person will manage programme and project teams to deliver strategic change initiatives, with a typical annual cash investment portfolio of c.$50m. The role will support the outcomes of IT’s Vision ‘27 programme, delivering improvements across Speed, Scale & Resilience metrics, whilst accelerating the development of a world-class CTO capability that attracts, nurtures and retains talent.

The person will be commercially astute, an excellent communicator and able to partner with executive level business stakeholders (Group General Managers and their teams). They will work with business leaders to define technology strategies, create new solutions and drive a culture of continuous improvement. They will also be partnering with other DBS, IT and CTO counterparts, at all levels of the organisation.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Transformation Portfolio Lead to join our CTO organization at HSBC. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing successful transformation portfolios and initiatives within the financial industry.

As the Transformation Portfolio Lead, you will be responsible for driving the Vision 27 transformation agenda and ensuring that the bank's technology initiatives align with the overall business strategy. You will also be responsible for developing and executing change management plans to ensure smooth adoption of new technology solutions across the organization.

Key Responsibilities will include:

§  Lead delivery of the Connectivity portfolio of change programmes and projects, working with project and Technology leads to ensure timely delivery of strategic objectives

§  Managing all portfolio and delivery risks effectively, including delivering within approved budgets

§  Lead future portfolio planning across Connectivity, with a focus on delivery our long-term strategic objectives, while maximizing the return on investment through financial and non-financial benefits

§  Managing vendors and commercials to ensure delivery to budget and benefits realisation

§  Own relationships with business and technology customers/stakeholders to design and deliver complex solutions

§  Drive the implementation of Cyber, Technology, Architecture disciplined Agile to efficiently deliver solutions

§  Support design and execution of platform architecture and strategy, and services in accordance with high control and compliance standards

§  Consolidate and standardise infrastructure solutions across the globe for countries to adopt global standards

 

Principal Accountabilities:

·        Influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders (CIO, COO, CEOs) and business partners, building strong relationships to ensure consensus and influence change outcomes. Fosters open and honest communication which anticipates stakeholder expectations

·        Partnering with Senior Technology and business stakeholders in reacting to delivery challenges and recommending and managing resolution plans

·        Partnering and influencing senior stakeholders in delivering continuous improvement to CTO and their customers

Leadership & Teamwork

 

·      Actively encourages a learning culture, encouraging collaboration and cross-functional working to develop colleagues across the global CTO community

·      Develops critical skillsets in team members and provide a stimulating work environment

·      Recruits and retains high calibre, diverse team members, developing the capacity, capacity and talent to provide for succession and ensure delivery of CTO objectives

Operational Effectiveness & Control:

 Ensures appropriate oversight mechanisms and high standards of internal control

 Build collaborative relationships, defines and articulate to stakeholders the targeted benefits for organisational change intervention. Communicate changes in policy and governance effectively, reinforcing risk processes within the team

 Leads the development of metrics to track and measure the delivery and impact of engagement programmes, sharing insights with the  Cybersecurity leadership team

Enhances operational controls through constructive identification and challenging of issues

·      Ensure adherence to all set governance and policies

•         Strong depth and breadth of technology knowledge, with direct experience of managing complex global technology portfolios and programmes

•         Excellent vendor management, across commercials and delivery

•         Financial expertise, including managing large and complex budgets to plan

•         Track record of delivering complex and large scale technology Infrastructure projects and programmes

•         Ability to demonstrate transformational leadership to support a transition into Agile/DevOps practice, and uplifting organizational delivery capability

•         Stakeholder management skills with a focus on building consultative relationships, and collaborating directly with a variety of customers and colleagues at all levels of seniority (business, development, compliance, etc.)

•         Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including the ability to develop, influence, lead and drive teams to deliver

•         Proven ability to articulate complex issues concisely, suitable for all levels across the HSBC group

•         Gravitas and ability to interact with senior executives, including Business Leads, and Country/Regional CIOs

•         Ability to perform under pressure, and in complex and changing business environments

 

Skills / Experience

•         Degree level education or equivalent

•         Professional/Management level experience of 10+ years

•         Advanced English language required

•         Flexible and adaptable to changing activities, schedules and work loads

•         Ability to simultaneously coordinate and complete multiple projects through an organized and process oriented approach
