Job Title: Principle Network Security SME

Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.

 

Role Description:

The Principle Network Security SME reports in to the Global Defence  Network Security Technical Director. This role will provide SME Network Security knowledge to the Global Defense Network Security Function, the day to day activities performed are varied and will involve:

·         Internal network security consultancy,

·         Network security controls definition, enhancement, and governance,

·         Involvement in RFI/RFP activities

·         Proof of concepts

·         Data analysis

·         Cooperative working with Network Security Architecture and other domains throughout HSBC

 

Responsibilities:

·         Develop the Global Defense function, engaging with colleagues across the Cybersecurity and other IT functions to drive and deliver sustainable operational plans in line with department strategy. 

·         Leads and facilitates change through clear strategy, operational planning and effective communication and stakeholder management.

·         Drive business performance, clear thinking and utilises experience whilst under pressure. 

·         championing customer and stake-holder engagement throughout the team.

·         Demonstrates an understanding of customer and stakeholder requirements by providing specialist input and knowledge and having a detailed understanding of the different short and long term shifts in business/function patterns of activity and demand.

·         Supports the development of the Global Defence – Cybrsecurity Engineering and Oprtations Team, making sustainable decisions that protects and enhances HSBC’s values, reputation and stakeholder value. 

·         Actively encourages a learning culture, encouraging collaboration and cross-functional working to develop and nurture teams and identify talent.  

·         Governs risk responsibly. Promotes ethical management of risk across regions and business areas within their area of responsibility. 

·         Communicates changes in policy and governance effectively, reinforcing risk processes within their area of responsibility. 

Requirements

Essential Skillset/Experience:

·         Deep technologist, with an SME focus on network security.

·         Knowledge of any major cyber security framework

·         Experience of cyber risk assessment and mitigations and worked on large network segmentation programmes

·         Strong Coding / Scripting knowledge

·         Knowledge of cyber security principles, global financial services business models, regional compliance regulations and laws.

·         Good understanding and knowledge of common industry cyber security frameworks, standards and methodologies, including; OWASP, ISO2700x series, PCI DSS, GLBA, EU data security and privacy acts, FFIEC guidelines, CIS and NIST standards.

·         Ability to document bugs, proposed fixes, and operational instructions.

·         Experience defining and refining operational procedures, workflows and processes to support the team in consistent, quality execution of monitoring and detection
