We are currently looking for an IBM z Mainframe Developer to join our Global Custody System (GCS) Mainframe development team.

Role Description

The IBM z Mainframe Developer will provide development and support to enhance the strategic Global Custody System running on an IBM zSeries Mainframe hosted in the UK. The team are currently based in Sheffield and Pune, India and support the UK and European custody business.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting and developing a mainframe based application within Global Custody System area of Security Services and working with the existing teams.
  • Supporting Global Custody System (GCS) which provide settlement and safekeeping of securities for UK and European regions and GCS is a time critical system with set cut off times to ensure transactions are processed to the correct markets within the SLAs.
  • Development of the GCS application using Cobol, Jcl, CICS, VSAM.
  • Build knowledge of the application, to support the global business locations and ensure production stability.
  • Collaborate with IT, product and business teams to support enhancements and mandatory changes to the application.
  • Cover 24x7 on-call support for the application on a rota basis.
  • Ensuring that the implemented services meet the design, necessary functional and non-functional requirements, transition into the live environments with full documentation.
  • Support automation for testing and deployment of the application.
  • Provide analysis of business requirements and turn into functional specifications for business sign off.
Requirements

Essential Skillset/Experience

  • More than 5 years’ experience in mainframe application development and support.
  • Knowledge of Cobol, JCL, CICS, VSAM etc .
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge of full development life cycle from requirements gathering through to deployment and support.
  • Ability to work in Global Development team and different timezones
  • Knowledge of Custody business, Security Services and Swift messages is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent communications and analysis skills is essential.
  • Proven ability to work with others as part of an established development team or on individual tasks with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to work to deadlines.
  • Experience of working in an Agile environment.
  • Positive attitude, self-motivating and proactive

The role will be based in Sheffield, but some travel may be required. This role supports Hybrid working
